Sarah Jane Evans is an award winning author and journalist of wines, co-president of the Decanter World Wine Awards and president of the 2018 IMW Symposium. As an author and consultant, she has special interest in in Spain and Sherry.
In recognition of her experience, she was named a member of the Great Gentlemen´s Order of Wine, Lady of Albariño and Lady of Solear. She has written a book about Spain and another about the wines of the north of Spain in preparation.
Her other interests include the wines of North and South America, Greece; and the great fortified and sweet wines of the world. Sarah Jane is the former president of IMW (2014-16). While she was president, she won the Robert Mondavi Winery Award for the highest marks in the theory exam. She studied Classics and Social and Political Sciences at the University of Cambridge. She began her career in the publication of books, and today is trustee of the André Simon Book Award and editor of the series, the Classic Wine Library. She spent a decade as associate editor of the magazine Good Food from the BBC, and she has great interest in taste and flavor, and in encouraging consumers to develop their own confidence in tastings. She is a founding member of the Chocolate Academy and author of Chocolate Unwrapped; and chocolate appears frequently in her tastings.
